Automation Promises Big Gains, But Only When Applied Properly
Investment in automation technologies continues to grow. According to Gartner, 90% of large organizations globally will adopt RPA by 2022. In 2019, $14 billion was spent on machine learning platforms, $7 billion each for small robots, natural language processing, and computer vision platforms, $4 billion for recommendation engines, and $3 billion for virtual assistants.
Despite all this investment, many of those projects will fail to deliver tangible results due to a lack of proper planning, an inability to identify the appropriate business use cases, and a lack of specialist technical skills.
