My Daily Schedule
As a Salesforce Developer, it’s my job to implement solutions to meet client requirements. Salesforce is a cloud-based platform and it has its own language called Apex, which is similar to Java and C-Sharp.
Being based in the UK, this means that my daily client call typically takes place early afternoon, allowing me to balance my time well. I generally spend the morning going through items in the sprint backlog, getting items ready for the client, such as demos for tasks they are looking to have completed.
During each call, I will go over all completed items or discuss problems and/or changes that are needed, according to each client’s needs. If training is required, I will schedule another call, especially if that training is complicated and needs further explanation.
During the afternoon, I work on user stories and take time to upskill as needed. If I feel like I need more training on a topic, I will take time to participate in training modules on MyTrailhead which offers courses for in-demand training and provides credentials for your skills. Expanding my skill set is important for my personal growth and the growth of the company.
My Favorite Part of the Day: Providing Valuable Solutions
I truly enjoy solving problems for each client and taking the complexity out of things for them. I enjoy being allowed to provide clients with something easy and intuitive to use while knowing that it performs some complex logic under the hood.
I love the flexibility and trust I am given in my role. I work remotely and manage my own time and workload, but at the same time, I know I have support from management and resources available to me if needed.

It’s an exciting time to be working in technology because of the recent growth. The same can be said for the Salesforce team that I am a part of. In my first year with the team, the UK contingent has more than doubled and we have more than 100 developers and consultants.

My Biggest Tip for Getting Into This Role – Embrace Challenges
As a Salesforce Developer, you have to work hard without being scared of a challenge. With that in mind, the best days as a developer will arrive when you’ve risen to meet the challenge head-on and delivered the solution that solves a complex problem for the client, ultimately leaving them happy with your work.
